Most of the dining rooms here follow the same format: paper above a chair rail or panelled wainscoting, painted trim below. It suits the room. The lower wall takes the chair backs and the knocks, and the upper wall carries the pattern at eye level once people are seated. Dining rooms are also where dark and dramatic papers make sense.
